Santiago's body #Maldonado, the young artisan who disappeared last August 1, during the repression of an indigenous protest by the Gendarmerie, was found today by the Naval Prefecture of Argentina in the Chubut River, within Mapuche's indigenous territory Patagonia. Already from the very first moments of the disappearance, there were few to believe that it would be found again. The way and the reason for the disappearance reminded very much of our fellow countryman Giulio #Regeni. According to some witnesses, Maldonado would be taken from the gendarmes during the raids and then disappeared into nothingness. Santiago Maldonado, twenty-two in Buenos Aires, was there to support the Mapuche people's struggle. Some witnesses say they saw him last in the hands of the Gendarmerie, but the same weapon and the government deny it. Together with the #Mapuche people and the Indians rights activists, he began a protest against the Benetton group, owner of 900,000 hectares of land. But those lands did not belong to the Argentine state, nor to Argentine Southern Land Company Limited, the English company that owned it since the early 1900s. Those lands belong to the Mapuche people, the Patriarchs living in Patagonia from time immemorial, well before the arrival of Spanish colonizers.
And, as is well known, the earth is the one who lives there. No law can ever contradict this universal principle. In this tough battle against property, there has never been any clear Macro position in Argentina, nor even by #Benetton who has been well-pleaded to make statements. Perhaps Oliviero #Toscani who has done business communication with social communication could perhaps prepare one of his spots for the indigenous people, and perhaps make the face of one who has not only put his face on us, but also our lives.

The day before yesterday, a bad news had come to an end: Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galicia, who had embarrassed the Muscat government with scoops on the Azerbaijani regime and allegations of corruption, pioneer of investigative journalism, was killed by a bomb placed on his car. Bad weather for those who fight for civil rights and against corruption. He returns to killing, as in Mexico, to get rid of his opponents sharply and definitively. And these news, in the river of unnecessary news provided in fake web pages, vomiting from the net every day, go almost unnoticed, in favor of those other futile, fake, commissioned to distract our conscience.
